The course coordinator for a new MPhil programme at the Institute of Astronomy at the University of Cambridge (where Fred Hoyle and Chandra Wickramasinghe worked) has advertised: The Planetary Science and Life in the Universe MPhil .

As the subject of life in the Universe is a multi-disciplinary cross-over field, it has several pathways from which students can join depending on their academic background. Better still, there are funded places for female graduates in the home fee paying category for next years cohort. Here’s the notice:

Dear All, For those interested in studying postgraduate education we are encouraging applications for the MPhil in Planetary Science and Life in the Universe. The course is open to all applicants and, due to a collaboration between the Parasol Foundation and Murray Edwards College, we also have a limited number of fully paid scholarships are available to Home-fee status female students. These awards give us the opportunity to enable more women to pursue higher education at the Institute of Astronomy and benefit from a Master’s degree at the University of Cambridge. The award covers all tuition fees and provides a generous maintenance allowance. Offer holders meeting the eligibility criteria will automatically be considered for this award, no additional application is required.

Deadline for applications is the 16th May 2025.
