Book review: The Humans, by Matt Haig

Change of review and lower star rating! Has anyone else noticed that Matt Haig’s 2013 sci-fi novel The Humans copied the main theme of One Billion Years to the End of the World (1977) by Russian sci-fi writers Arkady and Boris Strugatsky; intervention by an alien civilisation to prevent a human making a mathematical break-through? JG Ballard, newspaper reviewers etc. believed Matt Haig’s story was original but they probably hadn’t read widely enough.
